New album by Russian ritual ambient entity Corona Barathri, offering 4 rituals, 4 sacrificial stones as the the foundation of this opus. Enthralling incantations merge with deep ceremonial atmospherics, immersing one into the realm of ritualistic fervour. A foreboding aural channeling of dark forces by Chthonia, Darkarma and Hekte Zaren which also features appearances by Martyria and Nam-Khar.

Recorded in 2018-2020 the album is dedicated to the memory of Andrey Kein (Corona Barathri).

The rituals are aimed at:

I. Liberation of and ancient witch's soul sealed in stone. Now she is free. Forever in Darkness.

II. A Witch is calling to the Black Heart standing by the funeral pyre…With her blood, mortal flesh and bones, she feeds the blazing flame…It burns everything that is human and divine.

III. The call to Astaroth. Revelations coming through the Breath of Darkness. Sinister Wisdom granted to all unholy souls. Insanity for the children of the Earth.

IV. Descent into the depths of the Dark. Into Tartarus. Homecoming.

Review by Ivan Tibos (ConcreteWeb, Belgium) - concreteweb.be/reviews/corona-barathri-3

"2021 has been a year of extreme highs and lows for Corona Barathri… Unfortunately, earlier this year, one of their core members Andrey Kein passed away, leaving Ilya Affectvs as the sole core member, once again. This crushing blow to the project was somewhat offset by the massive achievement of releasing their latest album Lapis Sacrificialis by one of the top labels in the dark/ritual ambient scene, Cyclic Law. This album includes daemonic collaborations with Martyria and Nam-khar, as well as haunting vocal sections by Chthonia, Darkarma, and Hekte Zaren. While Andrey Kein will be sorely missed in the ritual ambient scene, there are no signs of Corona Barathri slowing down, they are poised to be one of the top names in ritual ambient, if they haven’t already achieved that feat."

"Russian CORONA BARATHRI was formed in 2016 era horrificus by Affectvs and Kein, of which the latter no longer exist this side of the veil. Thus Lapis Sacrificialis, the debut album of CORONA BARATHRI recorded in 2018—2020, is dedicated to the memory of him.

Lapis Sacrificialis features four tracks with a playing time close to forty minutes. In addition to the main perpetrators of sonic malice, the record at hand is endowed and enriched by vocal work of three witches-that is, Chthonia, Darkarma and Hekte Zaren.

As always with CORONA BARATHRI, this aural journey, beginning with Domus Spiritus: Mysterium Astrigae, leads down there. To the chthonic and murky depths wherein slithering ones feast on human souls. Soundscapes are both rich and elaborate, twisting and turning. There’s no idle moments in this albums. Something is always happening. The sense of vigilant evil haunts the whole work.

It’s somewhat pointless to separate individual tracks from such an integrated whole but, none- theless, think the second track of the album, Ad Rogum Supremum, deserves a special mention. It begins almost in an archaic and serene manner, but transmutates then into the ritual of darkness and horror. The guest vocalist Darkarma does a devilishly perfect performance here with her French, and the addition of electric guitar buzz works great. Surely a standout track, should such be selected.

To sum, Lapis Sacrificialis is pretty much a perfect album for those reaching towards the labyrinthine depths of both themselves and the universe. It’s dark, intriguing and also enlightening in its own sinister manner. If your calling is of the dark kind, wait no more and dive into these murky chasms."
